WEB RESOURCES
  • EAT YOUR VEGETABLES- http//5aday.nci.nih.gov/
  • The National Institutes of Health offers this
site containing lots of resources to encourage
folks to eat vegetables in appropriate
quantities. While the subject may not be popular
with young people, health and nutrition teachers
will find a number of resources that can be used
to help students make more intelligent choices
    about the foods they eat.
  • NUTRITION FOR PARENTS- http//www.fns.usda.gov/tn/
    Parents/index.htm
  • This US Department of Agriculture site provides
valuable information for parents interested in
teaching their children healthy eating habits.
The site has a seasonal guide for healthy eating,
ten tips for planning healthy school lunches,
activities that parents and children can do
together, and a list of health conscious reading
    resources sorted by age-group.

WEB RESOURCES
  • FIVE A DAY NUTRITION- http//www.5aday.gov/
  • The National Cancer Institute now offers this
venerable site as an encouragement to make fruits
and vegetables a central part of the American
diet. Though not designed specifically for
students, the site includes complete resources -
    recipes, promotional ideas, local contact
information, etc. - and could be useful for
    health and nutrition classes.
  • BILINGUAL HEALTH INFORMATION- http//www.ncfh.org/
    pateduc.htm
  • The information on this site was originally
developed for limited literacy Spanish and
English speaking patients. It offers basic
health, nutrition, and lifestyles information in
a context which may be suitable for either
students or parents in certain specific settings.
Lots of illustrations and minimal use of text
help make these resources easy to use.
