Martin De Leon

• Martin de Leon was born in 1765 in a town called
  Soto La Marina (now Tamaulipas) In 1790 he joined
  the Spanish Military in Mexico and quickly rose
  to the rank of captain. After his service he
  became a rancher.In1795 he married Patricia de la
  Garza. They than had ten children.

• They established a colony on the bank of the
  Guadalupe river in southwest Texas Martin named
  the settlement Guadalupe Victoria in honor of the
  first president of Mexico it was the only
  predominantly Mexican colony in Texas. He liked
  to explore south Texas. The first business he was
  in he was at the age of 18.

  and Madame Maria Galvan. Both parents were form
  aristocratic and influential wealthy families of
  Spain. His children's names were Candelaria,
  Silvestre, Guadalupe, Felix, Aapito, Maria
  Jesusa, Refugia, Augustina, and Francisca De
  Leon.
