Academic Affairs Representative (1)

• Collects student feedback on course offerings
  (both breadth and depth)
• Reviews and coordinates bidding process for
  classes
• Offers input on scheduling and processes
• Works with deans to provide feedback on
  professors and teaching methods
• May act as ombudsman for serious
• student issues with professor(s)

Administrative Representative (1)

• Monitoring of communication between
  administration and student body
• Administration and oversight of student
  government elections
• Communication processes with accepted students
• Welcome Weekend planning and logistics with
  administration
• First-year orientation planning and logistics
• with administration
• Counting votes when an internal student
  government vote occurs

Student Life Representative (1)

• Responsible for social event planning and
  administration for SOM Social Committee
  responsibilities, including formals, happy hours,
  Harvard-Yale Tailgate and other social events.
• Ensuring and overseeing the integration of
  different social groups within the SOM community
  (including partners, families, international
  students and potentially the greater Yale
  community)
• Supports non-sponsored/funded events by promoting
  and creating awareness for the organizers

Student Clubs Representative (1)

• Oversight of coordination of SOM student
  groups/clubs including new club proposals,
  officer elections and budgeting
• Responsible for allocation of student group/club
  financing/funding requests under 2,000 per event
• Financing/Funding decisions over 2,000 must be
  voted on by entire student government with a
  recommendation from the Steering Committee
• Required to make themselves available to answer
  questions regarding funding decisions

CDO Representative (1)

• Represent student concerns to the Career
  Development Office (CDO)
• Coordinate communications with the CDO
• Promote and facilitate alumni and career panels
  and events
• Make recommendations about increasing recruiting
  opportunities and company visits

Alumni Representative (1)

• Act as a liaison between the SOM student body and
  SOM alumni.
• Represent the student body at four Board meetings
  throughout the course of the year
• Organize SOM Alumni Association student programs
  including the Mentor Program and recruitment of
  Regional Alumni Chapter Volunteers
• Work closely with the Office of Development and
  Alumni Relations and specifically the Director of
  Alumni Relations.

Student Body Representative (5)

• Serve in a generalist role
• Act as a liaison between the student body,
  faculty, staff and administration to report on
  the pulse of the student body
• Sit on a minimum of two standing committees with
  the potential to form additional flex committees
  (ex. Facilities, IT, etc.)

GPSS Senator (2)

• Represent SOM student concerns to university
  administrators
• Work on GPSS committees, events and projects for
  the greater Yale graduate and professional school
  community
• Communicate information between SOM and the
  greater graduate and professional school
  community

Nomination Process

• Self-nomination- to secure ones name on the
  ballot, each candidate must submit the following
  materials
• position that candidate is seeking
• a statement of interest
• a brief summary of pre-SOM experience
• a list of anticipated SOM commitments for the
  coming year
• Wink you may send a wink to your classmate to
  encourage them to run for a position but in order
  to secure their name on the ballot, they must
  self-nominate as outlined above
• Statement to Student Body Wed., October 10,
  1130 am

  the nomination period begins!

Election Logistics- the fine print

• The use of e-mail lists, including cohort and
  class lists, is prohibited. Attempts to send
  mass e-mails through any means are considered
  violations of campaign rules. Individual
  students will be encouraged to report the receipt
  of unsolicited campaign e-mail.
• A maximum of 50 per candidate may be spent on
  campaign materials (or on their behalf).
  Candidates may be asked to present receipts from
  all campaign materials, and are advised to hold
  onto them until the conclusion of the election.
• All posted election material must receive
  Administration Committee and Facilities approval.
• Two violations of such rules will automatically
  disqualify a candidate.
• By submitting their self-nomination, candidates
  understand and agree to abide by these rules and
  respect the consequences of violating them.
