Welcome to my PIP Presentation

My PIP Plan
3
What is Differentiated Learning?
  • One Size Doesnt Fit All !!!
  • When students have different opportunities to
learn and take in information, make sense of the
ideas, and express what they have learned so that
    they can each learn effectively.

4
Why use differentiated learning in a classroom?
  • 1. Intelligence is Variable
  • Multifaceted
  • Fluid, not fixed
  • Brain research
  • 2. The Brain Hungers for
  • Meaning
  • 3. Humans Learn Best with Moderate Challenge

5
The Key Factor to Success
  • Development of a order and safe learning
    environment that supports Differentiated Learning
    !!!

6
What instructional strategies will I use?
  • Differentiation Through

7
Conservation of Energy
8
3 Versions of Problem Sets
9
Momentum Stations
  • 6 stations total set up around the room
  • 3 hands-on activities
  • Egg-Drop
  • Newtons Cradle
  • Coins and Ruler
  • 3 computer animations
  • Each station had instructions and questions
    posted on it

Egg-Drop Project
13
How do I evaluate its effectiveness on student
learning?
  • Continuous Assessments Through Questioning and
    Observations
  • Through Exams
  • Short-Answer Questions
  • Challenge Problems
  • Through Oral Presentations
  • Egg-Drop Project

14
My Conclusion
  • Order and a safe learning environment
    is necessary for success.
  • Differentiated Learning takes TIME and WORK (and
    lots of effort) !!!
  • For both teacher and students to learn
  • Student Teaching Semester Too Short
  • To be Effective
  • Always ask oneself What, How, Why?
  • Scaffold instruction has to be well-planned
  • Objectives have to be made very clear
  • Teacher needs to constantly stay alert and be
    organized
  • Repetition and Linking knowledge is essential !!!

15
My Future Plan
  • Broaden my knowledge of Differentiated Learning
    strategies
  • To successfully build a Differentiated Physics
    Classroom where
  • The teacher and students collaborate in learning.
  • Learners are linked with understandings and
skills at appropriate levels of challenge and
    interest.
  • Students are expected to grow, and have support
    for their continual growth.

  • Push me! See how far I go!
  • Work me til I drop. Then pick me up.
  • Open a door, and then make me run to
  • it before it closes.
  • Teach me so that I might learn,
  • Then let me enter the tunnel of
  • experience alone.
  • And when, near the end,
  • I turn to see you beginning anothers
  • journey,
  • I shall smile.
