Priorities Under 406
  • Priorities are determined by the Secretary of
    Agriculture, in consultation with the NAREEEAB
    (the National Agricultural Research, Education,
    Extension, and Economics Advisory Board) using
    stakeholder input.

Who Is Eligible?
  • Accredited colleges and universities that grant a
    bachelors degree or any other higher degree
  • This includes many non-Land Grant institutions,
    but excludes 2-year institutions.

What About Indirect Costs?
  • Indirect costs are permitted but limited to 19
    percent of total Federal funds

Are There Matching Requirements?
  • A one for one match of Federal dollars will only
    be required for commodity specific grants.
  • Even for commodity specific grants, the match may
    be waived.
