  • You should be aware of the following
  • Hp
  • Voltage
  • Phase
  • Service Factor
  • Amperage
  • Line to Line resistance

6
VFD and Soft Start
  • Run motor at a minimum 30Hz
  • Ensure flow along motor of minimum 0.5ft/sec.
  • Oversize motor if required.
  • Always install LC filter
  • Start/Stop voltage Minimum 55 of Rated voltage
  • Start/Stop ramp time Maximum 3 seconds

7
The correct assembly of pump and motor is
vital use the correct torque 18nm/13.5ft-lbs use
a torque wrench (if possible) cross tighten the
bolts misalignment spline wear
8
Attaching Pump to Motor
  • Make sure the surface is clean
  • Screw nuts on firmly on all studs
  • Tighten the nuts diagonally
  • Use proper Torque on the nuts

9
  • Provide stability to the motor and pump shaft
  • If the pump is misaligned it will damaged the
    radial bearings
  • Thrust Bearings bear the weight of the unit
  • If the unit is not properly sized it will put
    heavy stress on the bearings
  • Misalignment will limit the life of the thrust
    bearings

  • Heat is one of the major killers of motors
  • The load of the motor
  • Oversize if possible
  • The stability of the power supply
  • Avoid over/under voltage
  • Use supply cable of good quality
  • Use supply cable with max. 1 losses
  • Use motor protection
  • The cooling of the motor
  • Check water temperature
  • Ensure flow past the motor cooling sleeve

12
The lifetime of the motor is determined by the
thickness of the insulation. The speed of the
deterioration of the insulation is determined by
the heat When the insulation is gone the motor
will be short cut/burned
Motor wires are placed next to each other like
