What are the three branches of Government and
what do they do?
Legislative Branch- They make laws.
Executive Branch- They enforce laws.
The Judicial Branch-They settle disputes.

The Legislative Branch makes laws. Describe some
of the laws in your town and tell why they are
important.

• Possible Answer Stop at a stop sign. This is
  important so there are fewer car accidents.

The Executive Branch enforces laws. Who in your
town enforces the law? How do they do that?

• Possible Answer The Mayor enforces the laws.
  He/She does this by hiring police officers and
  firefighter to protect our city.

The Judicial Branch settles disputes or
disagreements. Describe who in your town does
that. Why is it important?

• Possible Answer A judge. It is important
  because it helps keep bad people from doing bad
  things.
