  • Mythical heroes are extraordinary people who are
    made up by someones imagination.
  • The story of their life is retold to others and
    passed down throughout the years to become a myth
    or a legend.

Paul Bunyan
When they gathered around the fire on cold winter
nights, the men would tell stories about a giant
lumberjack, Paul Bunyan, who did amazing things.
  • Paul Bunyan is a mythical hero whose story
    was created by lumberjacks many years ago.

deliver Paul to his parents!
He weighed 80 pounds when he was only 3 hours
old, and they had to use a wagon pulled by a team

  • (at age 85)
  • He is a hero because
  • explored and settled Kentucky
  • fought to defend Kentucky and the settlers from
    Indian attacks
  • lost two sons and a brother in the fighting, but
    still had mercy on the Indians.
