Introduction

• In the past, many health care professionals
  received most or all of their amputee training
  during their initial training sessions, and many
  had no continuing education.

Working With Amputees

• An amputee is a person with very specific
  problems related to mobility and prosthetic fit.
• People working with amputees must have good
  knowledge of other diseases such as diabetes and
  peripheral vascular diseases.

Therapy For Amputees

• Normally, therapy requires extensive teamwork
  involving prosthetics, physical therapists,
  occupational therapists, doctors, nurses, etc...
• There is no better therapy for amputees than
  sports, it gives them confidence, and a way to
  stay in shape and lets them still have fun.

  National Limb Loss Information Center. The POCFA
  provides continuing education to meet the needs
  of professionals who provide care for people with
  limb loss.
