Prior to Application Submission
  • Provide information about NSERC programs
  • Liaise with NSERC Program Officers
  • Review application guidelines and procedures
  • Review list from NSERC of researchers submitting
    LOI (Form 180). Due August 15th for Fall
    submissions.

Submission Process
  • Submit one copy only for review by ORS. Once
    reviewed you will be notified so you can submit
    final copies.
  • ORS ensures all signatures are in place Chair,
    Dean, co-applicants, Appendices
  • Review your application for completeness, correct
    number of pages and in the correct order
  • Certification Requirements Research involving
    humans, animals, biohazards and environmental
    impact

Submission Process
  • Ensure Form 101, Part II meet the presentation
    standards and that they follow the guidelines
  • Review the Budget and Budget Justification
  • make sure numbers add up corresponding to the
    budget sheet
  • salaries meet NSERC guidelines (max. 16,500/yr)
  • equipment does not exceed 7,000 per item
  • correct HST rate used on equipment and supplies
    (2.31 and 10.31 respectively)

Submission Process
  • Relationship to other research support. What
    other grants do you hold and how are they
    related?
  • Form 100 CV.
  • Does it meet the guidelines and presentation
    standards?
  • Is your list of Research Support held in the past
    or currently held complete? Did you include
    grants recently applied for?
  • Are the correct date ranges used for the
    publications list?
  • Have you followed the new privacy guidelines for
    listing of graduate students? HQP Consent form
    completed?
  • Eligibility Appendix B C completed, if
    necessary

Submission Process
  • Samples of Contributions Do you have the
    correct number of samples for your GSC? Are the
    envelopes correctly labelled?
  • Copies Original plus 7 copies for NSERC. One
    complete copy for ORS. Do Not Photocopy
    specific pages of application for NSERC committee
  • ORS sends copies to NSERC by courier
  • ORS Deadline is 17 October, 2003 or two weeks
    prior to granting council deadline

On-line Submission
  • UNB will try on-line submission this year
  • NSERC will provide training sessions to ORS staff
    and researchers first week of September. Date to
    be confirmed.
  • ORS still needs to see hard copy of application
    prior to electronic submission. ORS will approve
    application electronically. Final hard copy with
    appropriate signatures required by deadline.
  • The researcher will decide if application to be
    submitted electronically. Can still submit paper
    copies.
