Title: TROPICAL RAIN FOREST and TAIGA
1TROPICAL RAIN FOREST and TAIGA
2Tropical rainforest South America, Africa, and
Southeast Asia are the worlds largest tropical
rainforests. The animals that live there are
lizards, monkeys, birds ,and many more. The
rainforest has four different zones based on the
living environment. There is the emergent, the
canopy, the under story, and the forest floor.
The rainforest has the most plant life on Earth.
A tropical rainforest has more kinds of trees
than any other area in the world. Seventy percent
of the plants in the rainforest are trees.
Tropical rainforests produce 40 of Earth's
oxygen. About 1/4 of all the medicines we use
come from rainforest plants.
3Taiga The largest land biome on Earth is taiga.
This biome is about 17 of the Earth's land area.
Taiga is a Russian word for marshy pine forest.
Taigas have not many animals because of the harsh
winters. Some taiga animals are able to live in
the cold winter environment, but many migrate
south to warmer climates during the winter and
others go into hibernation. You can find animals
such as lynx, reindeer, snow goose, and others in
taigas. The trees that live in the taiga
environment are coniferous trees and many more.
The trees grow close together ,so they protect
themselves from the snow and wind.
