high intensity sweeteners (HIS) in the world,
China has witnessed a rapid development in HIS
industry because of the increasing demand from
food and beverage industries and stable recovery
of overseas market since 2008. In 2013, the total
capacity of HIS reached XXX t/a and the output
reached XXX tonnes. The HIS produced in China
includes nine varieties saccharin, cyclamate,
acesulfame-K, stevia sweetener, aspartame,
sucralose, glycyrrhizin, alitame and neotame.
Cyclamate, saccharin and aspartame are the major
varieties with output totaling XXX tonnes in
2013, accounting for XXX of the total
nationwide. From 2008 to 2013, aided by its good
taste (the most similar to that of sucrose) and a
dropping price, sucralose enjoyed the fastest
growth in output among the major varieties of
HIS, and its CAGR reached XX during
2008-2013. Chinas domestically produced HIS are
export-oriented. In 2013, it is estimated that
XXX tonnes of the products are exported,
accounting for about XXX of the total
nationwide. Developed countries such as the US,
