Title: P LLINATI N

1
P LLINATI N
The bee collects the pollen from the flowers.
2
PETAL POWER
When you have heard seen enough move on
3
Petal Power
  • Bees are attracted to plants with brightly
coloured petals and a nice smell .

4
Pass the Pollen
5
Pass the Pollen
The stamen makes pollen. When an insect comes to
drink the nectar from the plant, the pollen
sticks onto the insects back.
6
Then the insect goes on to collect nectar from
another plant of the same type. When the insect
brushes against the stigma all the pollen falls
off onto it. The stigma is sticky so the pollen
sticks to it. This is called pollination
7
The Pollen Pipe
8
Pollen and Ovules
  • If our bee has the correct pollen in his pollen
sacks, and if that pollen sticks to the stigma, a
    pollen pipe begins to grow.

9
The Final Fuse
As the pollen pipe grows down into the wall of
the ovary, our pollen is able to fuse with one
of the ovules to make a seed.
