Step 1 ESRTW the Standard

  • X Company will offer early and safe return to
    work to all employees.
  • ESRTW will be incorporated into the Health
    Safety Policy.
  • The purpose is to assist injured workers with
    modified or alternative work as part of the
    healing process.

    starting point?
  • No worker will be forced to return to work
    against the advice (Functional Abilities Form) of
    the attending health care provider. The worker
    will perform meaningful work that they agree to
    and that will not aggravate an existing
    condition.

  • All forms must be completed and returned to the
    employer prior to return to work stating the
    limitations.

  • The worker will discuss with their supervisor the
    nature and extent of the work.
  • The worker will be encouraged to arrange all
    medical appointments or physical therapy sessions
    preferably 1st thing in the morning or late in
    the afternoon.
  • An X Company representative will be in contact
    with the injured worker at all times following
    the injury.
  • Management will review the standard annually.

    this standard and will develop a Letter to
    Attending Physician as well as a List of Modified
    Work Tasks will be developed

  • Employees will be instructed of the importance of
    form completion and its return to their
    supervisor or head office as soon as possible.
  • Supervisors and management will inform injured
    workers of the modified work activities and
    schedule as soon as possible after receiving the
    completed functional abilities form.
  • Supervisors will review progress daily with
    injured workers.

  • This policy will become part of the New Worker
    Orientation Policy. The procedure will be
    reviewed annually with all employees at a tool
    box talk and any changes explained at that time.
  • All supervisors will conduct safety meetings and
    toolbox talk sessions with work crews to explain
    the policy, purpose and procedure for early and
    safe return to work.
  • This will include a review of the Functional
    Abilities Form and how it is used to provide
    modified work.

    toolbox talk sessions with work crews to explain
    the policy, purpose and procedure for early and
    safe return to work.

    recognized at a special tool box meeting.
  • Management will recognize successful supervisors
    at supervisor meetings.
  • Management will stress the importance of this
    policy at employee meetings and company social
    events.
