• 2150 in a clash between IDF soldiers and
  Hizballah terrorists in Ras Biada, 2 IDF soldiers
  were moderately injured and another was injured
  lightly.
• 9/8
• 0350 in a clash between IDF soldiers and
  Hizballah terrorists in the Lebanese village of
  Bint Jbel, 3 Israeli soldiers were lightly
  injured.

  town of Taibe in Lebanon, 1 Israel soldier was
  killed and 7 others wounded, 1 severely and 6
  others lightly.
• 1147 a side charge was detonated on an IDF
  tank in the vicinity of Ita A-Shaab, killing 4
  Israeli soldiers.

• 0849 anti-tank missiles were fired at an IDF
  force north of Bint Jbel. Consequently, two
  soldiers were injured, one of them severely.
• 0915 - anti-tank missiles fired towards an IDF
  force in the Lebanese village of Aitaroun,
  severely injuring one soldier and moderately
  injuring another

IDF Activities

• Rocket launchers destroyed in the vicinity of the
  villages of Hamra, the village of Ras Al-Biada
  and the village of Bint Jbel.
• In addition, targets aimed at the suppression of
  Katyusha fire and an ammunition storeroom in the
  areas of activity in southern Lebanon were
  attacked by the IDF.
• In aerial attacks during the 9th of August, the
  IDF has attacked over a 150 targets, among them
  70 buildings used as Hizballah headquarters, six
  rocket launchers that fired towards Israel, two
  bridges upon the Litani river and three gas
  stations east of Tyre.

Comments

• Talk of an IDF ground maneuver has raised many
  concerns regarding Israeli intentions in Lebanon.
  The IDF has clearly stated the objectives set
  before it, and any possible ground maneuver will
  be aimed at achieving those goals, along with the
  continuation of the air and sea campaigns.
• The IDF is invested with the responsibility of
  suppressing Hizballah fire upon Israeli
  territory, as well as sufficiently degrading its
  military power so as to create the conditions
  that will facilitate the drafting of an agreement
  guaranteeing the long-term security concerns of
  the State of Israel.

Comments

• In addition to the aggressive declarations made
  recently on the part of the Syrian political
  echelon, the Syrian Army is also showing signs of
  irregular activities which have significant
  destabilizing effects on the current situation.
• Since the beginning of the current confrontation,
  Syria has also played a key role in supplying
  Hizballah forces with both weapons and munitions
  which have been, and are continued to be used
  against Israel.

Comments (cont.)

• Syria continues to lead the resistance against
  any agreement between Israel and Lebanon
  involving an effective mechanism for monitoring
  the Syrian/Lebanese border. This refusal results
  from Syria's desire to maintain Hizballah as a
  well armed strategic threat to Israel along its
  northern border, at the expense of bringing the
  hostilities to an agreed termination.
• Despite Syria's determined efforts to disrupt any
  progress towards a negotiated end of hostilities
  and its increasingly bellicose posturing, the IDF
  is NOT looking to expand the present circle of
  conflict to include Syria, nor is it looking for
  any excuse to remain on Lebanese territory any
  longer than is absolutely necessary for carrying
  out its specific military missions.
