Title: Macbeth, Act 2: Scene 4
1Macbeth, Act 2 Scene 4
2The scene begins with an old man and Ross,
Macduffs cousin, discussing the days events.
They reveal that the world is out of control
(presumably because of Duncans death) day is
night, horses are eating each other, mice are
eating falcons, stuff like that. Macduff joins
them and begins to speak of the flight of the
kings son he believes that this makes them
appear to be guilty of their fathers death.
Ross reveals that since the sons are gone, the
throne will go to Macbeth. He is to be
inaugurated at a place known as Scone. When
asked if he is going to attend, Macduff responds
that he will not, in which case his lack of
attendance would be an extreme insult to Macbeth.
Overall, Macduff is suspicious of Macbeth he
thinks that perhaps he killed the king.
