4 Steps to Certification
  1. Attain the required work experience 2 years in
    driver training
  2. Attend the Essential Instructional Skills for
    Professional Driver Trainers course
  3. Pass CDT certification exam
  4. Complete application and certification exhibit
    and submit to NATMI

  • Structure allows certification process to be
    completed within 60-day timeframe

    certification process required training,

Process Overview
  • Training requirements and certification exam
    completed on-site in 2.5-day program
  • Certification application and exhibit submitted

Renewal
  • In order to stay current, certified individuals
    must renew every 3 years from the date of their
    initial certification
  • Renewal applicants must accumulate 30 points in
    the 3-year cycle.
  • A workbook documenting points earned must be
    submitted to NATMI prior to the renewal due date
