Federal Governments Department of Veterans'
Affairs. The Centre is a University of
Queensland led consortium involving The
University of Queensland, The University of
Adelaide and Charles Darwin University. The CMVH

- now over 51 unique published definitions
- Eysenbach (2001) e-health is an emerging field
in the intersection of medical informatics,
public health and business, referring to health
services and information delivered or enhanced
through the Internet and related technologies. In
a broader sense, the term characterizes not only
a technical development, but also a
state-of-mind, a way of thinking, an attitude,
and a commitment for networked, global thinking,
to improve health care locally, regionally, and
worldwide by using information and communication
technology

Telemedicine The deployment of telemedicine in
the ADF is in its infancy. Informal telemedicine
consultations in the form of unsecure e-mail has
been the norm for a number of years. This is the
e-equivalent of the corridor consultation. The
ADF will soon deploy their first CR systems. This
will have the capability to provide TR in the
deployed environment. CMVH will be working with
the Health Capability Directorate of the Defence
Health Service Division to develop secure
deployable synchronous and asynchronous
telemedicine platforms that interface with the
deployed health information system (HIS) and the
deployed electronic health record (EHR) and also
those of our allies and coalition partners.
