Title: Identify Common Cancers

  • Regular Papanicolaou test (Pap smear) is
generally advised for women usually within three
years after first vaginal intercourse. This test
helps cervical cancer detection. A speculum is
used to collect cells from the cervix and
endocervix. The cells are then examined for the
presence of pre-cancerous abnormalities such as
    cervical intraepithelial neoplasia or cervical
dysplasia usually caused by sexual transmission
of human papillomaviruses cancer cells. Pap smear
also detects abnormalities and infections in the
endocervix and endometrium. Screening test done
for lung cancer detection includes chest
radiography and sputum cytology. Generated images
of the lung from a chest x-ray help identify
tumors around the lung area. Lung cancer sputum
cytology is done by examining expectorated matter
from the lungs for cancer markers. Computed
tomography (CT Scan) is likewise done to check
for tumors and other anomalous growths that
cannot be seen through chest radiography.

Identify Common Cancers
  • Screening methods diversify depending on the type
of cancer a person is being assessed. Take note
that when your doctor advises cancer screening
for you, it does not mean he/she believes you
have cancer. We've compiled a list a cancer
screening programmes to awareness of cancer
    screening procedures and their benefits.

  • For breast cancer detection, cancer screening is
usually undertaken via a mammogram or clinical
breast examination. Mammogram is the x-ray of the
breast. These test help ascertain the existence
of breast cancer lumps that are sometimes very
    small to perceive.

  • Other abnormalities like carcinoma in the situ
and concentration of abnormal cells in the breast
duct lining can also be detected. In clinical
breast examination, your health care professional
will gently feel the underarm and breast areas
    for lumps or masses.

  • In the event that a tumor or anything abnormal is
felt, you will be advised to undergo ultrasound
to better understand the nature of the lump.
Other tests like magnetic resonance imaging and
tissue sampling can also be administered to
provide additional knowledge about the tumor
    growth.
