Title: The finer points of teaching and creating Artistic Genius

1
The finer points of teaching and creating
Artistic Genius
Art Education
  • The key to becoming an artist is not in t
learning the skill of production, but in learning
to explore ones self and ones surroundings, and
    in doing so finding God.

2
The Fundamentals
  • Observe- The first key to art is noticing things
around you. Whether one finds inspiration in
nature or in human action, one must see it first.
  • Empathy- One must learn to vicariously feel the
emotions of a situation in order to feel a part
    of it.
  • Drama- One must contain within ones self the
ability to see things in motion. Life is a play,
the action of which never stops. Drama is the
energy that makes art not just a picture on a
    wall, but an experience.
  • Prolificacy- One must be able to produce and
create constantly. The act of creating must come
before the skill if the skill is ever to come.
  • Passion-There is no definition that does this
justice. However, it is necessary to be a
creator. It can be compared to love. It is the
act of intermeshing ones self with what one
    creates.

3
More Fundamentals
  • Commitment- one must exhibit an indivisible
connection between themselves and their art
preventing one from giving up before the course
    is run.
  • Philosophical integrity- one must be able to look
at ones own life and find certain truths to
portray in their art that applies to humanity. If
it doesnt move you it will never move anyone
    else.
  • Frustration- If you feel comfortable then you are
not moving and are not growing. Therefore one
must pick their work to pieces. Each painting
becomes a foundation for the next.
  • Looseness- one must be free from preoccupations
with conscious control of ones motor functions.
One must trust their body to do what the mind
tells it to do. The tighter and more rigid one is
the less they will be able to grow. For one is
always more comfortable when they give themselves
safety nets. It is more frustrating and difficult
    to be loose.

More than just a picture...
  • Art is more than just an image transferred onto a
piece of paper. We are not copier machines, ore
computer printers, we are human artists.
  • Structure is constricting. The more than can be
stressed on being prolific the more students and
artists will be able to grow into something of
their own. The teacher like the artist is not a
copying machine, and is not in the business of
    creating artistic clones of oneself.
  • Critiquing may hurt but it is absolutely
mandatory. Students must learn to accept that
they are producing art that is made to be seen
and that is subject to the likes and dislikes of
    individuals.

5
A new way of life...
  • Art is a way of life not just an action to be
done. To truly know art one must live it. One
must learn to see differently than normal people.
  • We are not normal people. People will call us
eccentric or odd. We are. It is who we are and it
should be a source of pride for one to be
    different.
  • We are the definition of Genius. To create is
beyond the normal capability of most people. Any
time one creates one is by definition a Genius.
  • Our Art makes us closer with our creator. To
strive to make things, is to strive to emulate
the father. In doing so we venerate him.

6
The good stuff
  • The gift of any teacher to their students is
inspiration. No mater where they go or what they
will be able to take that and make it their
    lifestyle.
