Reading
  • Students will use McGraw-Hill, which is a
collection of literature. The series comes with
    leveled readers for each story.
  • Students will listen to various novels during
read aloud time as well as read books in their
    A.R. Level for literature circles.
  • Accelerated Reading is up and running. Students
look at expected goal and what they believe they
can achieve to set their own goal.

4
Language and Writing
  • Students will continue to learn with Six Traits
of Writing and with the aid of our book, Writers
    Express.
  • Students will continue to practice writing to
learn, writing to tell a story, writing to
describe, writing to persuade, writing to inform,
    writing for themselves and others.

5
Georgia Math Expressions
  • Our new math program is comprised of the best of
    both worlds.
  • Georgia Math is skills-based practice to build
    math confidence in all learners.
  • Expressions offers hands-on manipulative
activities to build an understanding of why and
to foster mathematical reasoning (both oral and
    written).
  • Students have nightly skills-based homework.
  • The textbook is online, so students who
sometimes forget, have every opportunity to
    complete homework/study for a test.

Homework
  • Homework will be generally assigned Monday
    through Thursday.
  • Most of the time there will be no homework on the
weekends except to study for the occasional
Monday test, and always to bring back conduct
    form, signed by a parent.
  • Please note that due to the large amount of
curriculum in science, and especially social
studies, when assigned to study, it is imperative
that students study as there is not time to do
    intensive reviewing.

11
Rules and Discipline
  • The following rules are most important to Mrs. D
  • Not talking during requested times instructions,
tests, lining up, when another adult comes into
    the room
  • Not to distract another child from learning
  • Following directions and staying on task
  • Having a pleasant attitude towards classmates and
    adults
  • Completing assignments and homework
  • Behaving in hall, bathroom, and for other teachers

12
Consequences
  • Students will be given individual and class
    warnings first.
  • If a student breaks a rule after warnings are
given, he/she will be given a tally mark on my
    chart.
  • The number of tally marks will signify the
conduct grade for the week. This will be noted
on the Conduct Report. Students run/walk a lap
per tally at recess (not exceeding 8 minutes of
    recess time).
  • I depend on parents to partner with me.
  • Serious misbehaviors could result in a phone call
home or going to the principals office.
