4Our Technology and Solutions OfferingsEnvironment
al Remediation Water/Oil/Solids Separation
- Total Fluid Solutions Inc.
- Separates oil from wastewater during production
of hydrocarbons - Cleans and separates solids from hydrocarbons,
water/drilling muds that result from drilling
and production of oil/gas
5Environmental Remediation Water/Oil/Solids
Separation
- Oil/gas companies are facing immense pressure to
become environmentally responsible by reducing,
recycling and reusing water and dealing with
contaminated solids - Produced water from conventional oil production
is injected back into disposal wells while
produced water from unconventional oil production
is stored in contaminated tailing ponds - After conventional oil/water/solids separation
technology is used, between 0.05 - 5 (500 ppm
- 50,000 ppm) residual oil content remains in
the water - Wescorps patented Total Fluid Solutions unit
uses microscopic aeration technology to reduce
the oil content in the producedwater to less
than 0.005 (50 ppm - parts per million)
6World Heavy Oil Basins
7Alberta/Saskatchewan Oil Sands
- In Alberta alone, over 171 billion of oil
sands, oil/gas and other projects either under
governmental approval, development or under
construction
8Environmental Remediation Water/Oil/Solids
SeparationUnconventional Oil Challenges
- The Athabasca River is the primary water source
for all oil sands exploration, development and
production in northern Alberta - For every barrel of synthetic crude oil produced
through heavy oil upgrading 2-4 barrels of fresh
water is used - In Canada alone, existing and approved oil sands
operations are currently licensed to remove and
use 2.5 billion barrels of water per year from
the Athabasca River - Tailings ponds already cover more than 60 square
kilometres (23 square miles) in northern Alberta
and can be seen from space with the naked eye
9Environmental Remediation Water/Oil/Solids
SeparationConventional Oil Challenges
- Virtually all oil reservoirs contain associated
formation water know as produced water, must be
disposed of in an environmentally friendly way - Using current treating methods the produced water
still contains hydrocarbons and solids - The produced water is disposed of by pumping into
disposal wells or injection wells - The cost associated in disposing contaminated
produced water are millions of dollars per year
in the areas of maintenance, trucking, fracing
and well workovers. - Oil companies use massive amounts of fresh water
for well stimulation to increase production
10Environmental Remediation Water/Oil/Solids
SeparationTFS Competitive Advantage
- First to market with an integrated patented
process technology, - Provides an output stream of
- Clean water/clean solids and marketable oil
- Conserves/reduces the use of fresh H20
- Significant economic impact decreases operating
costs - Reduces associated cost in the areas of,
transportation of contaminated water, well
maintenance, environmental liabilities, and
retained liability associated with the disposal
of contaminated hydrocarbon solids - Allows for the reclaimed solids to be reused or
sold for commercial or residential construction - Increases well productivity/life cycle
- Can provide Kyoto credits through creation of
Nitrogen
11Environmental Remediation Water/Oil/Solids
SeparationWater - Market Size
- Global market for cleaning and reuse of produced
water is over 50 Billion annually - Alberta oils sands market, for cleaning and
disposal of contaminated water in access of 100
Million annually - In 2006 Alberta oil sands exploration,
development and productions contaminated 540
million barrels of fresh water
12Environmental Remediation Water/Oil/Solids
SeparationSolids - Market Size
- The North American market for cleaning and reuse
of contaminated solids from heavy oil exploration
and development is in excess of 100 billion - Cleaning and disposing of drill cuttings
associated with the drilling of Albertas oil
sands is estimated to be in the excess of 24
billion
