3
Overview
  • This presentation is in regards to upgrading
computers in Newark schools. These schools
incorporate Central High School, NJIT, and
    Rutgers.
  • This presentation is intended for the Newark
Board Of Education Department, who can eventually
forward this proposal to the New Jersey State
Government and the deans of the two
    aforementioned colleges.

4
Objectives
  • Deter crime in Newark by providing after-school
    activities (Computers)
  • Provide a better education for Central High
    School students
  • Use new computers as a motivation tool for
    education
  • Change the education rank and social status
    preconception about Newark
  • Educate college students using computers which
    contain the newest technology
  • Provide what college students deserve in
comparison to the amount of money they are paying
  • Create awareness to the schools Board of
Education to the lack of fulfillment of their
jobs as well as create awareness on the unfair
charges college students are forced to pay for
    computers

5
Content/Background Part 1
  • The installation of computers in Central High
School provides a positive after-school activity
rather then a negative activity outside of
    school.
  • Central High School is one of the lowest ranked
high schools in the state of New Jersey.
  • Newark has a higher then average crime rate
  • The lack of education and after school activities
might be a contributing factor for these
    downfalls.
  • This step of implementing new technology and
computers into the high school is crucial.

6
Content/Background Part 2
  • There is an obvious delay in the upgrading of
computers at Rutgers and New Jersey Institute of
    Technology
  • NJIT fails to provide the whole campus with new
computers. For example the physics dept. consists
    of computers from last century.
  • The computers at Rutgers-Newark use Microsoft
Windows 2003. The software on these computers
must be updated to Microsoft Windows XP or
    Microsoft Vista.
  • This robs the students of quality education

7
Content/Background Part 3
  • There are the unfair fees that colleges charge
    students for sub-par computers
  • The colleges are doing a poor job in providing
    students what they are owed
  • There is a 137.50 computer fee per semester per
student at Rutgers. There are over 10,000
students enrolled in this college. That means the
college computer department collects at least
    1,375,000 per semester.
  • Where is the quality of computers that should
reflect this amount of money being collected?

8
Plan
  • Step 1 Install 100 new computers at Central High
    school
  • Step 2 Upgrade software on 150 computers at
    Rutgers
  • Step 3 Replace 200 computers at NJIT.

9
Personnel
  • There will be 9 workers required. They include
four computer technicians and two handymen. There
will also be one janitor required. I myself will
be present, but only to manage the operation.
There will be one recyclable truck required as
well as two employees to utilize the truck.

10
Budget
  • 4 technicians x 40 hours x 15 dollars/ hour
    2400
  • 2 handymen x 40 hours x 10 dollars 800
  • 1 janitor x 40 hours x 8 dollars 320
  • 1 Recyclable Truck 2 Employees x 8 hours 1000

    300,000

11

Conclusion
  • Hopefully the aforementioned objectives are
fulfilled. The investment made in this project is
not a business investment. This investment
fulfills the morality standards within the
community. This investment will not yield profit
based on money-making. The quality of education
and the lifestyle of children and students will
progress in a positive direction which cannot
    contain a price tag.
