Criteria
  • Student capacity of buildings (design and
    operational)
  • Keeping neighborhood intact
  • Use major features as boundaries (main roads,
    railroads, rivers, parks, etc.)
  • Reduce transportation costs
  • Balance by socio-economic status
  • Attempt to move as few students as possible to
    achieve goals
  • Maintain an intact feeder system, (dont split
    elementary areas for middle schools, dont split
    middle school areas for high schools)
  • Implement a redistricting plan based on longevity

Community SelectedRedistricting Criteria
  • Balance schools by ethnicity, race,
    socio-economic status, special programs, etc
  • Maintain middle school cohorts as much as
    possible
  • Consider physical proximity and distance from
    home to school
  • Consider building capacity(program capacity and
    operational capacity)
  • Consider length of time in transit (including
    length of time students waiting at bus stop,
    riding on bus and waiting on bus at school)
