SAS Constructability Workshop 04-012064
Self-Anchored Suspension Span consists of a
160-meter single steel tower with a main cable
and inclined suspenders supporting two steel
orthotropic decks of a 385-meter main span and a
180-meter back span.

workshop will concentrate on identification of
constructability issues for the tower and
orthotropic boxes.

  contractors that plan to bid 04-012064 SAS/YBI
  contract (Contractors),
• steel fabrication firms that plan to submit
  estimates to fabricate steel tower and/or main
  and back orthotropic boxes (Fabricators)

• Caltrans Project Manager

Purpose is to develop a

• Sense of the capacity of the domestic steel
  market to produce plate steel for orthotropic
  boxes and tower
• sense of fabricators ability to fabricate and
  transport pieces
• sense of prime contractors ability to bid the
  project due to the above issues
