Current Project Status

• Web site internal tests and fixes continue
• Currently there are 30 web site defects
  outstanding
• Project documentation lagging due to defect
  fixing efforts
• External testing should be able to resume this
  week
• Research continues into publication possibilities
  for Phase 2

Choice 1 Refine Document

• Focus on ensuring the highest possible quality
  for existing web site and database
• Dedicate energy to creating extensive
  documentation
• Refine the web site to include feedback from
  external users
• Create a way to view the information in the
  database

Refine Document Risks

• The team may not utilize the last 6 weeks as
  effectively as is possible
• The team will not be able to deliver Phase 2
  software
• The web site by itself will not allow the
  creation of the directory

Refine Document Benefits

• The web site will have a high level of
  reliability
• The feedback of external testers will be
  incorporated into the web site in an organized
  fashion
• The only financial investment required will be to
  host the web site

Choice 2 Implement Phase 2

• Team Hazmat has identified Adobe InDesign 2.0
  EmSoftware InData as a reasonably good solution
  for Phase 2
• Dedicate at least two team members to pursue a
  proof of concept implementation of Phase 2
• One or two people will work on documentation and
  tying up the loose ends of Phase 1

Implement Phase 2 Risks

• No team member is familiar with InData
• InData is 400 InDesign 2.0 is 699 1099
• InData only works with InDesign 2.0 so far
• Documentation and testing for Phase 1 may not be
  fully realized
• New database-to-print technology may emerge
  between now and next years Sr Project

Implement Phase 2 Benefits

• Although beta, there could be a usable product
  available to STEP
• Even in a proof of concept stage, the work done
  will be a valuable example for the next team

Implement Phase 2 Tasks

• Develop 7 individual InDesign templates based on
  the 7 organization types
• Generate delimited text files through the web
  site
• Limited External Testing
• Update SRS to include Phase 2 requirements

Recommendation

• External testing is almost ready to resume
• A successful InData example was created
• The team would like to pursue Choice 2
• The benefits of completing Phase 2 outweigh the
  potential risks
