About theInsurance Industry Charitable Foundation
  • The Foundation was established in 1994 by a small
    group of insurance executives in Northern
    California who wanted to increase support of
    their local communities by combining their
    resources and working together.
  • Since its inception, the Foundation has granted
    over 18 million and over 90,000 hours of
    volunteer service to worthy nonprofit
    organizations throughout California, with a focus
    on programs that support children, health, safety
    and educational causes.
  • Our supporters, donors and volunteers come from
    insurance companies, reinsurance companies,
    agents brokerages, and strategic partners of
    the industry.

AboutVolunteer Week
  • Volunteer Week has been presented by the
    Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation
    throughout the state of California since 1998.
  • Volunteer Week is the largest community
    involvement program offered in the insurance
    industry.
  • Volunteer teams of insurance executives,
    employees, their family members and industry
    partners are matched with nonprofit agencies in
    their local communities to provide three or more
    hours of service during a concentrated week.
  • Volunteer Week has generated over 86,000 hours of
    service across California. In 2007 alone, over
    2,000 insurance industry representatives
    throughout the state donated over 12,000 hours in
    one week through the Volunteer Week program.

Team Leader Role
  • (Introduce yourself as your companys Team
    Leader)
  • Each company/office location participating in
    Volunteer Week identifies a Team Leader to
    coordinate their volunteers and projects with the
    Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation.
  • Complete materials and instructions will be
    provided to help Team Leaders with the following
    responsibilities
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the
    Foundation and nonprofit agency
  • Register volunteer team(s) and select project(s)
  • Promote the Volunteer Week program in workplace
    and other company locations
  • Recruit volunteers
  • Communicate the message of Volunteer Week
  • Organize and communicate project logistics (eg.
    shifts, transportation, materials, etc.)
