  • HRP Positions
  • HRP certification is required for each individual
    assigned to, or applying for, a position that
  • Involves nuclear explosive duties or has
    responsibility for working with, protecting, or
    transporting nuclear explosives, nuclear devices,
    or selected components.
  • Affords access to Category I SNM or has
    responsibility for transportation or protection
    of Category I quantities of SNM.
  • Affords access to information concerning
    vulnerabilities in protective systems when
    transporting nuclear explosives, nuclear devices,
    selected components, or Category I quantities of
    SNM.
  • Is not included above but affords the potential
    to significantly impact national security or
    cause unacceptable damage and is approved as an
    HRP-designated position by the appropriate
    organizational element.

  • The HRP involves four components.
  • Supervisory review
  • Medical assessment
  • Management evaluation
  • DOE personnel security review and clearance
    determination
  • Each component is completed for initial
    certification and then every 12 months for
    recertification.

  • Responsible unit can be within any unit of the
    organization
  • Responsible administrator identified individual
    who has responsibility for program (HRP
    management official)
  • Organizational relationships direct interaction
