Ontario is blessed with 80 native tree species,
most of which we have very little genetic
information. Determining how, when and where
assisted migration may be needed is a daunting
task. A presentation in this area would likely
touch on spline-based climatic modelling,
projected geographic shifts in ecosystems and
species, and recent work by others on climatic
response functions. I would probably conclude
with a little discussion about the value of
Bayesian statistical approaches to data analysis
and the potential for structural equation
modeling to support decision analysis regarding
seed transfer.
