2Salt and Light
3Salt and Light
1 Corinthians 69 (NIV) 9 Do you not know that
the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God?
Do not be deceived Neither the sexually immoral
nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes
nor homosexual offenders
WHY?
4Salt and Light
You are the salt of the earth.
- Everlasting Covenant
- Sacrifices were required to be seasoned
- Imitate the usefulness of salt
- Let your conversation be always full of grace,
seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to
answer everyone.
5Salt and Light
You are the salt of the earth.
2. Salt in the world
- Sodium and Chlorine
- Every cell of your body contains salt
- Salt is used in manufacturing an estimated 14,000
products - Draws water out of bacteria, causing it to
shrivel and die.
6Salt and Light
You are the salt of the earth.
3. Salt looses its saltiness
- Good for Nothing
- De-icing the roads
- Trodden under foot
7Salt and Light
You are the light of the world.
4. Light
- If your eyes are good, your whole body will be
full of light. - We have reflective light.
8Salt and Light
You are the salt of the earth.
You are the light of the world.
Both salt and light are forces that change an
alien environment permanently. Salt enhances
flavor and preserves or slows decay only if the
salt itself stays pure. But it can lose its
effectiveness by being diluted. Light symbolizes
purity and divine revelation. If Christians were
only slowing the decay, their mission would seem
rather bleak, but they are also to be beacons of
light to those who will respond. Â Tasteless salt
and hidden light are good for nothing! Salt
arrests decay in our world, and light banishes
darkness. Salt is hidden, but light is visible.
Both are needed in the world, and both must give
of themselves in service.
