Setup Basics

• Setup installs the Microsoft SharePoint files
  in C\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
  Shared\Web Server Extensions\50.
• Setup also automatically installs the Microsoft
  FrontPage 2002 server extensions.

• Setup installs MSDE if Microsoft SQL Server is
  not already installed. (The /nd switch will
  bypass MSDE.)
• FrontPage 2000 Authors automatically become
  SharePoint Advanced Authors.
• Unattended setup is available.

Migration

• Prepare the destination server
• Install SharePoint
• SQL or MSDE
• Stop the Web server with this command
• net stop issadmin /y
• Remove all files from Web location

• Migrate the site
• Migrate Web data
• Copy all the Roles.ini files (if subwebs exist)
• Migrate database data (SQL or MSDE)
• Assign the database
• Restart the Web server (net start w3svc)

• Re-establish all permissions on the site
