MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

RECOGNISING

• Our common objective is to raise the health
  status of Maori through a commitment to ensuring
  accessible and appropriate services for Maori
• Our common interest in improving approaches to
  Maori health by identifying and reinforcing best
  practices and
• Reaffirming our common interest in the sharing of
  knowledge and learning experiences, which will
  serve to strengthen our individual approaches and
  service delivery to Maori.

Article 1- PURPOSE

• Share knowledge through an agreed
• annual schedule of work
• Plan of Action which may include information
  personnel exchange
• Conducting of workshops,conferences, seminars
  meetings

Article 2 - ACTIVITIES

• The Partners, intend to
• develop joint efforts to effectively and
  appropriately exchange information and resources
• enhance development of collaboration between the
  two associations
• with other relevant agencies, groups, and
  individuals

Article 3 - PLAN OF ACTION

• Develop a Plan of Action
• Sharing statistical data and information on Maori
  consumers
• Sharing resources information re approaches to
  Te Iwi Maori
• Exchanging information on midwifery capabilities
• Collaborating on projects that improve service
  delivery to Maori

Article 4 MOU CLEARING HOUSE

• A forum that will enable the Plan of Action to be
  developed and agreed to
• The Partners will charge Liaison Officers to
  carry out activities
• L.O. meet at least twice a year to review, revise
  provide reports on Plan of Action
• Liaison Officers to be named

Article 5 - FUNDING

• Each Partner intends to fund its own activities

Article 6 - MEDIA

• Partners agree
• Statements to the media about activity completed
  under MOU only made by mutual consent
• Neither partner will speak for or on behalf of
  the other partner without prior written agreement

Article 7 SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES

• The Partners strive to resolve by mutual decision
  any disputes that arise from the interpretation
  or application of this MOU

Article 8 DURATION

• Activities commence upon signature by both
  Partners for 5 years
• extended for an additional 5 year period, after
  review
• amend by mutual written consent, specifying the
  date amended Arrangement commences
• MOU maybe terminated by 30 days advance written
  notice to the other Partner
• MOU termination does not affect completion of
  co-operation activities formalized prior to
  termination
