17Real Time Transit Information
- MTC and RM2 Grant Recipients San Francisco Muni,
AC Transit, Caltrain/SamTrans, VTA, Golden Gate
Transit, WestCat, LAVTA, Emery Go-Round - The program will collect real-time transit
arrival predictions from all partner agencies
into a central, regional data repository. - The repository will disseminate the information
to the 511 phone and web systems, regional
signage, and interested transit partners. - Currently, the 511 phone system provides a demo
for Munis light-rail and historic streetcars. - Plan to incorporate information from other
agencies as available.
18What is BATA?
- The responsibility for the administration,
operation and upkeep of the seven state-owned
bridges that span the Bay is shared by the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), in
its role as the Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA),
and the California Department of Transportation
(Caltrans). - The seven state-owned bridges are the Antioch,
Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton,
Richmond-San Rafael, San Francisco-Oakland Bay
and San Mateo-Hayward bridges.
19Toll Bridge Seismic Retrofit Program
- Assembly Bill 144 by Loni Hancock (D-Berkeley)
was signed by the Governor on July 18, 2005 - AB 144 outlines a funding agreement to complete
the Toll Bridge Seismic Retrofit Program, and
calls for raising Bay Area bridge tolls by 1 (to
4 for autos) starting January 1, 2007. - AB 144 allows construction to move forward on the
single tower, self-anchored suspension (SAS)
span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge
20BATAs Expanded Responsibilities
- In August 2005 the California Legislature
expanded BATAs responsibilities to include
administration of all toll revenue and joint
oversight of the toll bridge construction program
with Caltrans and the California Transportation
Commission.
