Title: Psalms 1
1Psalms 1
- Blessed is the man who does not walk in the
counsel - of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners
- or sit in the seat of mockers.
- But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
- and on his law he meditates day and night.
- He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
- Which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf
does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. - Not so the wicked!
- They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
- Therefore the wicked will not stand in the
judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the
righteous. - For the LORD watches over the way of the
righteous, - But the way of the wicked will perish.
2Psalms 371-9
- Do not fret because of evil men
- or be envious of those who do wrong
- For like the grass they will soon wither,
- like green plants they will soon die away.
- Trust in the LORD and do good
- Dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
- Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you
- the desires of your heart.
- Commit your way to the LORD
- Trust in him and he will do this
3Psalms 371-9(continued)
- He will make your righteousness shine like the
dawn, - the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
- Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for
him - do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
- when they carry out their wicked schemes.
- Refrain from anger and turn from wrath
- Do not fret--it leads only to evil.
- For evil men will be cut off,
- (Altogether)
- But those who hope in the LORD
- will inherit the land.
4Behold His Power and GloryPsalm 631-4, 5b
- O God, You are my God,Earnestly I seek You My
soul thirsts for You in a dry and weary
land where there is no water.I have seen You in
the sanctuaryand beheld Your power and Your
glory. Because Your love is better than life,
My lips will glorify You.I will praise You as
long as I live, and in Your name I will lift up
my hands. With singing lips my mouth will praise
You. - 53
5Psalm 401-8
- I waited patiently for the Lord
- He turned to me and heard my cry.
- He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the
mud - and mire he set my feet on a rock and gave me
- a firm place to stand.
- He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise
to our God. Many will see and fear and put their
trust in the Lord. - Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust,
- who does not look to the proud, to those who
- turn aside to false gods.
- Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have
done. The things you planned for us no one can
recount to you - Where I to speak and tell of them, they would be
too many to declare.
6Psalm 401-8(continued)
- Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
- but my ears you have pierced
- Burnt offerings and sin offerings
- you did not require.
- Then I said, Here I am, I have come it is
written about me in the scroll. - I desire to do our will, O my God
- your law is within my heart.
7Psalm 1191-8
- Blessed are they whose ways are blameless
- who walk according to the law of the LORD.
- Blessed are they who keep his statutes
- and seek him with all their heart.
- They do nothing wrong They walk in his ways.
- They have laid down precepts that are
- to be fully obeyed.
- Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your
decrees! - Then I would not be put to shame
- when I consider all your commands.
- I will praise you with an upright heart as I
learn - your righteous laws.
- I will obey your decrees
- do not utterly forsake me.
8Psalm 119105-112
- Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my
path. - I have taken an oath and confirmed it,
- that I will follow your righteous laws.
- I have suffered much preserve my life, O Lord,
- according to your word.
- Accept, O Lord, the willing praise of my mouth,
- and teach me your laws.
- Though I constantly take my life in my hands,
- I will not forget your law.
- The wicked have set a snare for me,
- but I have not strayed from your precepts.
- Your statutes are my heritage forever
- they are the joy of my heart.
- My heart is set on keeping your decrees
- to the very end.
9Psalm 1391-8
- O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.
- You know when I sit and when I rise
- you perceive my thoughts from afar.
- You discern my going out and my lying down
- you are familiar with all my ways.
- Before a word is on my tongue
- you know it completely, O Lord.
- You hem me in behind and before you have laid
- your hand upon me.
- Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
- too lofty for me to attain.
- Where can I go from your Spirit?
- Where can I flee from your presence?
- If I go up to the heavens, you are there
- if I make my bed in the depth, you are there.
