The First Day of School

• Students will report to team teacher according to
  their last name.
• Students will follow their schedule.
• Students will receive Jaguar handbook, please
  review with your child. Sign and return specified
  pages.
• We will be handing out several forms.
  Parents-please sign and return the next day.

Jaguar Handbook

• Teachers will review with students on the 1st
• day of school.
• Please sign specified pages.
• Please keep handy, it contains important
• information you will need throughout the year .

agenda

• Cost 5.00-Agendas are required for all students.
• Students must have agendas at all times.
• Students should use the agenda to record daily
  homework and class work assignments.
• Parents may use agenda to communicate with
  teachers.
• The agenda includes student hall passes, 10 per
  nine weeks.

Lockers

• Cost 2.00.
• Teachers will issue lockers on the second day of
  school.
• Students should not share combination.
• Lockers should be keep clean and organized.

Textbooks

• Students will be assigned textbooks and/or
  workbooks for some core classes.
• If lost or damaged, student must pay for the
  textbook before a new book will be issued.

Field Trip

• Four field trips. One per nine week period.
• Information will be sent home well in advance, so
  that you may prepare for these events.
• Parents are always welcome to chaperone on field
  trips

• We have several reward structures in place
  throughout the school year.

Panther Pride Cards

• Students are given a panther pride card when they
  are caught living up to the Panther Promise.
• Three copies, one for team leader, one to turn in
  at lunch, and one to take home.
• Drawings from the Panther Pride cards for
  additional prizes.

Academic pep rallies

• Every nine weeks, we hold a school wide academic
  pep rally.
• Students are recognized for their academic
  achievements.
• Students who receive an honor roll card are the
  also recognized by their team leaders.
• Students are to wear their team shirts or colors
  to show their team pride.

Expectations

• Students must show up on time to each and every
  class.
• No outside gum, candy, food, or drink is allowed
  in the classroom.
• Homework must be turned in on the day it is due.
• Respect towards all staff members and other
  students.
• Follow classroom rules, team rules, and school
  rules.
• Students must bring their library books and
  agendas to each and every class.

Cell Phones, iPods, Mp3 players, Etc.

• These devices are not allowed during the school
  day.
• When students leave the gym or cafeteria in the
  morning, they are to turn these off and put away
  in their lockers. They are not to be gotten out
  again until they are leaving for the day.
• If they are seen out, they will be confiscated
  and a parent must pick them up from the office.
• In cases of emergency, students will be allowed
  to use the school phones.
• If you need to get in touch with your child,
  please call the school and we can get them in

Discipline Policy

• At Edythe Hayes, we use a mark system for
  behavior. The marks and weights of each has been
  determined by the administration and are used
  school-wide.
• Marks are kept from Thursday to Thursday.
• Students who receive more than 5 marks will have
  a consequence.

School-wide Mark System

• Students who accumulate 5-9 marks a one week
  period will be given one of the following
  consequences
• Silent lunch
• Character education packet- level 1
• 30 minute detention
• 30 minute team level community service
• Students who accumulate 10-14 marks within a one
  week period will be given one of the following
  consequences
• One hour detention
• Character education packet level 2
• Team isolation
• Students who accumulate 15 marks within a one
  week period will be given one of the following
  consequences
• 1 1/2 hour detention
• Isolation with another grade level
• Parent/teacher/administration conference will be
  held
