Rent-A-Tech Contracts 2009/2010

Purpose of these Consultant Contracts
  • To aid the Districts by providing additional
    manpower to provide technical field assistance
    with monitoring and inspection of contracted
    highway work to ensure compliance with all
    contract provisions.

Contract Time Frames
  • Current Contract runs through June 30, 2009
  • New Contract starts April 1, 2009 and runs for 1
    year with a possible renewal for year 2.
  • Thus use old contract to finish projects in the
    spring or handle corrective work until June 30th.
    Use new contract for work which is just
    beginning. ALL work will be by the new contract
    as of July 1st. (There is a D4/D5 exception.)

  • Grade Drain/Structures/ACI Level I/Asphalt
    Lay-Down Tech/ Aggregate Sampling Tech

  • OSHA 10 classes may include Rent-A-Techs

Money Paid to Date for the last Contracts
  • Region 1 (Districts 1, 2, 3) - 164,016.70
  • Region 2 (Districts 4 5) - 1,187,697.78
  • Region 3 (Districts 6 9) - 1,303,610.45
  • Regions 4/5 (Districts 7, 8, 10, 11, 12) -
    2,353,166
  • Total for all Regions 5,008,490.56

One problem of the OLD contracts
  • The Division of Professional Services
    actually pays the bill thus they need the
    Districts to approve bills or invoices sent to
    the District by the Consultant.
  • Problem is Retirements
  • Reorganizations
  • Reassignments

Remember!
  • Reality These Contracts are for Construction
    purposes only.
  • The inspectors must work Sitemanager projects.
  • Future? Consideration is being given to widen the
    Rent-A-Tech contracts to include Maintenance Tech
    type of activities.
