Fuel-Operated Heaters

• Eliminate unnecessary idling for heat and defrost
• Start automatically on a timer for engine
  pre-heat to eliminate cold starts
• Reduce air pollution
• Reduce fuel consumption
• Reduce the frequency of oil changes and engine
  maintenance
• Reduce the amount of hours of operation on the
  vehicle engine
• Provide a warmer and safer interior compartment
  for driver and passenger
• Are able to be used anywhere that the bus travels

National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program
Public Fleets
At least 50 of funding is dedicated for the
benefit of public fleets

• Will include private fleets contracted or leased
  for publicpurpose, such as private school buses
  or refuse haulers
• Only eligible entities can apply directly for
  funds (i.e., school district or non-profit
  applies on behalf of private school bus
  contractor)

Money, Money--Where is the Money?

• Money for grants through the EPAARRA stimulus
  money 300 Million for reduction of emissions
  from diesel engines
• National on www.recovery.gov and regional
  collaboratives websites due in about 35 days
• State environmental state agencies
• Fiscal Year 2009 50 Million in DERA funds which
  is distributed through national and state
  grantsapplication period beyond stimulus
  deadline
• Some state agencies are also putting together
  their own programs combining funding from various
  other sourcesapplication period beyond stimulus
  deadline
