to light through the gospel, - (Rom 116 NKJV) For I am not ashamed of the
gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to
salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew
first and also for the Greek.

those who preach it?Contd
- In what sense is our salvation based on the
purposes of God and not anything we have done? - (2 Tim 19 NKJV) who has saved us and called us
with a holy calling, not according to our works,
but according to His own purpose and grace which

the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has
abolished made of no effect, sjc death and

time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a
woman, born under the law, - (1 Tim 115 NKJV) This is a faithful saying and
worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came
into the world to save sinners, of whom I am
chief. -
12Why should we not be ashamed of the gospel and
those who preach it?Contd
- In what sense is our salvation based on what we
have done? - (1 Pet 122 NKJV) Since you have purified your
souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in
sincere love of the brethren, love one another
fervently with a pure heart, - (James 224 NKJV) You see then that a man is
justified by works, and not by faith only - (1 John 24 NKJV) He who says, "I know Him,"
and does not keep His commandments, is a liar,
and the truth is not in him.
13Why should we not be ashamed of the gospel and
those who preach it?Contd

- (2 Tim 18 ASV) Be not ashamed therefore of the
testimony of our Lord, not of me his prisoner
but suffer hardship with the gospel according to
the power of God - (2 Tim 116 NKJV) Onesiphorus was not
ashamed of my chain - (2 Tim 29 NKJV) for which I suffer trouble as
an evildoer, even to the point of chains but the
word of God is not chained. - (2 Tim 115 NKJV) This you know, that all those
in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are
Phygellus and Hermogenes.
14Why should we not be ashamed of the gospel and
those who preach it?Contd
- Why was Paul suffering his current afflictions?
- (2 Tim 110-11 NKJV) the gospel, to which I
was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a
teacher of the Gentiles. - (2 Tim 112 NKJV) For this reason I also suffer
these things
15Why should we not be ashamed of the gospel and
those who preach it?Contd
- Why was Paul not ashamed?
- (2 Tim 112 NKJV) For this reason I also suffer
these things nevertheless I am not ashamed, for
I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that
He is able to keep what I have committed to Him
until that Day. - (Rom 116 NKJV) For I am not ashamed of the
gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to
salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew
first and also for the Greek.
16Why should we not be ashamed of the gospel and
those who preach it?Contd
- Who had not been ashamed of Paul?
- (2 Tim 116 NKJV) The Lord grant mercy to the
household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed
me, and was not ashamed of my chain - Who had been ashamed of Paul?
- (2 Tim 115 NKJV) This you know, that all those
in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are
Phygellus and Hermogenes. - (2 Tim 416 NKJV) At my first defense no one
stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be
charged against them.
17How strictly should one interpret the teaching of
Paul?

words? - (2 Tim 113 NKJV) Hold fast the pattern of
sound words which you have heard from me, in
faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. - Only other use of the same Greek word
- (1 Tim 116 KJV) Howbeit for this cause I
obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ
might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern
to them which should hereafter believe on him to
life everlasting. - Timothy had followed Pauls doctrine.
- (2 Tim 310 NKJV) But you have carefully
followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose,
faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance,
18What to Remember
- From Chapter 1
- Family can be good sources for potential
converts. - We should use all gifts and opportunities we
are given. - Those teaching and following Gods true
revelation should never be ashamed of it or the
circumstances they are in because of it. - In Divine revelation we have doctrine that is to
be followed as a pattern.
