Neville, Paul W. Leap-Frogging Over the Digital
Divide. December, 2001. 26 July 2004
lthttp//www.geocities.com/paul_neville/writing_te
chnology.htm gt.
  • This site explains a different theory about the
Digital Divide. Neville says that when a human
is introduced to new technology than it cannot
stay away. This person must have the use of this
technology. This is the mistake that the world
made. They told undeveloped countries about new
technology at a time when they need to fix their
problems instead of making more problems. So,
now the UN must take control and by leaving
restrictions on technology use in third world
countries until they are well suited for the
    technology.

  • Before poor countries can be bombarded with new
technology they must eliminate poverty. These
people need tools to help them throughout every
day life not confuse them with technology that is
    not useful.

intact when they still have many unresolved
    issues with in their country.

Venkat,Kumar. Delving Into the Digital Divide
Is the Digital Divide Due To Poverty Or An
Effect of Underlying Social and Economic
Conditions? It Certainly Tracks the Income
Divide World Wide. IEEE Spectrum Feb 200214.
Expanded Academic ASAP. SUNY Plattsburgh
Library. 20 July 2004 lthttp//web6infotrack.galeg
roup.comgt.
  • Kumar Venkat is the author of this article.
After reading this article, the reader will
understand the reason for why the digital divide
is growing between third world countries and
developed countries. This reason is mainly
because the rich are benefited from technology
    while the poor is not.

Less. The Economist (US) 14 July 2001 2.

roup.comgt.
  • This article from the Economic Newspaper Ltd.
shows the effect of giving poor countries more
technology than they can handle. Also, this
article gives good ideas on solving their
problems that are non-related to technology. If
their problems are fixed then these poor
countries can begin using higher technology.

Divide. Africa Recovery Oct 2003 7-9. Fact
Search. SUNY Plattsburgh Library. 24 July
2004 lthttp//newfirstsearch.oclc.orggt.
  • Gumisai first tells the reader a definition of
the Digital Divide. He then informs the reader
of Africas problem that has been occuring
because of the divide. Gumisai says the people
of Africa have had the least involvement with
technology of the twenty first century. The
author proves his statement by listing statistics
of how many people in Africa use technology.
These numbers are extremely low and prove the
Digital Divide has had a negative effect on the
    people.

  • This encyclopedia source gives a broad
explanation of the divide. It starts off with a
definition of the divide and then continues with
the issues. The reason developed countries have
new technology is because they have the
knowledge. The undeveloped countries must gain
the knowledge before they can use the technology.
