Title: Group Prepared Teaching Task 2

1
Group Prepared Teaching Task 2
  • Dance from text - extract from
  • A Midsummer Nights Dream by William Shakespeare

2
Evaluation of aspects of Dance Composition Lesson
  • Having read extracts concerned with the
Mechanicals from the play, pupils were required
to determine the character of Nick Bottom, the
weaver, and to compose a phrase of dance that
    suggested aspects of his personality.
  • The following identifies aspects of the lesson
that I thought were successful and aspects that
    were not!

3
Motivation
  • I explained the task clearly and the girls worked
purposefully exploring the text for clues to
    Bottoms character.
  • Some girls needed more help with the task I
should have been prepared for this.

4
Progression
  • Girls suggested some appropriate movement ideas,
I asked for additional images. This wasted time
    the movements were sufficient.
  • My voice is audible over low level noise.

5
Interaction
  • I think that I encourage the girls to discuss
their ideas because they know that I will listen
to what they have to say.
  • Sometimes discussions take longer than I allow
    for in my plans.

6
Demonstration
  • I described the task clearly and the girls were
able to understand easily because of the
    demonstration.
  • I need to explain more concisely and not repeat
    myself.

7
Feedback
  • I circulate well and give most pupils some
    feedback every lesson.
  • Sometimes I need to ask the pupils for solutions
to problems instead of supplying all of the
    answers myself.

8
Conclusion
  • I am pleased with the clarity and audibility of
my voice. I think that I use demonstration
appropriately. I am a good listener and I give
    helpful feedback.
  • I need to be more concise when setting
tasks/explaining etc ensuring that my comments
relate directly to the learning outcomes. I need
    to challenge all.
