Title: Welcome Back

1
Welcome Back!
Day Two!
2
Discipline Folders
  • Everyone will receive a discipline record.
  • Please staple it neatly and securely to the first
    inside page of your folder.
  • Place your name on the record right now!
  • Look to Mr. Clark for an example.

3
How does the record work?
  • You will receive two verbal warnings and a
written warning before being entered into the
    schools discipline recorder.
  • YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE TWO WARNINGS AND A WRITTEN
    WARNING FOR EVERY DISCIPLINE CATEGORY!
  • Some minor issues receive freebies. Not all
    do.

4
Good Things!
  • Most of you do great things every day.
  • I am going to try to catch you doing these good
    things.
  • Each good thing is redeemable for one percent on
any chapter grade for the quarter.
  • They do NOT carry over to the next quarter.

5
Unprepared
  • You must bring pencils, an eraser, three-holed
paper, class materials, your planner, and your
jump drive every day. If not, you are unprepared
    for class.
  • Failure to return your signed test by the due
date is also recorded as unprepared for class.
  • You do receive two freebies per quarter.
  • The third unprepared counts toward your
    discipline for the quarter

6
Gum/Candy
  • No gum or candy is permitted on campus.
  • If I see either (you need not be chewing or
eating it), I will stamp your folder. This
counts even if you received the gum or candy from
    another teacher or from lunch.
  • Medically necessary items may be consumed in
class ONLY with a note from the clinic or the
administration (your parents should clear this
with the clinic or administration beforehand a
note from your parents is not sufficient).

7
Off-Task
  • You must participate and follow along at all
    times during class.
  • Not knowing the page, not knowing the problem
number, not having heard the question are all
    examples of off-task behavior.
  • Off-task behavior will be recorded. Notice that
you are allowed two freebies per quarter.
  • Additional infractions will be recorded.

8
Disruption
  • You must allow others (and yourself) to learn.
  • Feeling bored, feeling the material is too easy,
or even having a bad day are not excuses to
    hinder someone elses learning.
  • Failure to respect others as they learn will be
recorded as disruption. Talking out without
being called upon, interrupting another, and
unnecessary tapping all are examples of
    disruptive behavior.
  • Notice that you receive two freebies per
quarter. Additional infractions will be recorded.

9
Insubordination
  • You must follow my directions (or the directions
    of any adult in authority).
  • Failure to comply will be recorded as an
    insubordination infraction.
  • There are no insubordination freebies, because
failure to follow directions immediately is a
    choice, not a mistake.

10
Consequences
  • Step 1 Verbal Warning
  • Step 2 Verbal Warning 2
  • Step 3 Written Disciplinary Warning
  • Step 4 Sign Discipline Book for Grade. 6
overall book signings yields a referral. A
referral precludes your attendance at the
    end-of-semester reward activity.
