Do not walk in the way with them
  • When I was ordained as a deacon on Jan 30, 2005
every sent then God has blessed me in many
deference ways, both mentally and physically and
have blessed me and my wife in our finances. God
was dealing with me long before I was ordained as
a deacon, but I thank God on that day for all the
praying hands of men and women and ministers on
that day. I can still remember and feel the
praying hands of the ministers on my shoulder and
some laid hands on my head I can still remember
and feel that moment, on that day it was a new
beginnings for me, we all need to have a new
beginning every now and then especially in the
    Word of God.
  • When you become a deacon God has given you some
great responsibilities and He holds high regards
for all His Officers in the church. But in order
for any minister or deacon to avoid bad company
and not walk in the way with them you are going
to need the wisdom of God.

3
Biblical Importance
  • Key word in Proverbs is wisdom Rather you are a
minister who preach the Word of God, Deacon one
who is involved in teaching the Word of God or
what ever your talent maybe, you need the wisdom
of God. If we walk in the way with them we will
in no doubt miss the mark that God has set before
    us
  • Acknowledge His Glories in the name of Jesus
  • Avoid bad company and not walk in the way with
them is a must for all of Gods ministers
  • The Wisdom of God will teach you how to obey
  • In the church we have our youth, young adults and
small childrens that one day will become
ministers, some will be deacons, some will be
choir directors and so forth, and this is why it
is so important that deacon and ministers set the
    example of Christ like mind.

4
Biblical Importance
  • Obeying your parents is a responsibility, but
does not limit the responsibility only to the
    circumstances
  • There is a kind of influence that is ungodly, and
there is a kind of influence that is godly and
    uprightness.

5
Do not walk in the way with them
  • The kind of influence that we are going to
discuss in this lesson is the kind that can
affect people as a majority group, or person
that can have a godly affect or an ungodly
affect, positive affect or negative affect.
  • Influence is the capacity or power of persons or
things to be a compelling force on or produce
effects on the actions, or behavior, or opinions.

6
Avoid Bad Company Proverbs 110 - 19
  • Avoiding bad company and not walking in the way
with them does not limit the responsibility only
    to certain people.
  • Avoiding bad company and not walking in the way
with them can pertain to Ministers, Deacons,
trustees, choir members, the kitchen committee,
parents, adults, youths, children, and self.
  • In todays lesson we are going to dwell on the
Word of God Mainly in the book of Proverbs
Mainly in the book of Proverbs Mainly in the
    book of Proverbs?
  • The book of Proverbs is better known as the
Wisdom book the key word in Proverbs is wisdom,
which means the ability to live life skillfully
but if we walk in the way with them, ungodly
influence will in no doubt causes one to miss
the mark that God has set before them.

7
Avoid Bad Company 1-2
  • You will in no doubt miss out on some blessings
that God has prepared for you.
  • You will in no doubt miss out on obtaining some
Godly knowledge but rather contain ungodly
knowledge. Because of this ungodly influence you
will find your self walking in the way with them
and serving the world instead of your one and
    only true God.
  • So before we really get started you need to get
your Praise on buy telling the Lord
  • I love You Lord I Praise You Lord for your
wisdom I acknowledge Your Glories in the name of
Jesus I Praise You for Your Excellencies I
Praise You for Your work in Your creation I
Praise You for Your work in redemption Thank You
Lord in the name of Jesus. Amen

8
Avoid Bad Company 1-3
  • Now that youve got your praise on we can move
    on.
  • Avoid bad company and not walk in the way with
them You see a godly life in an ungodly world,
however, is no simple assignment because the
world in which we live is where Satans thrown
is but there is someone who is mightier than all
who can help you win over these negative forces,
one who has the power to concur ungodly
    influences.
  • We have much to be tempted with, especially our
youths. Even adults, Gods Ministers and Deacons
can find themselves sometimes caught up in all
sorts of things trying to live life without the
    Wisdom of God.
  • The world as we know it today is everyone for
them self, and people are being led down the
wrong path, but the bible speaks about this very
    same statement.
  • But the question is, if we as deacons and
ministers is to have a Christ like mind, how can
one avoid bad company and not walk in the way
    with them?

9
Avoid Bad Company 1-4
  • Well here are some answers to this question
Proverbs provides Gods detailed instructions for
His people and how to deal successfully with the
practical affairs of everyday life in how to
relate to God, the parents, the children,
    neighbors, and even the government.
  • In the Word of God, we can seek Wisdom in how to
avoid bad company and not walk in the way with
    them.
  • You can seek Wisdom in how to obey your parents.
Both godly affect and godly influence
  • In Proverbs one can seek this godly Wisdom if he
or she chooses to do so or has the desire to do
    so.

10
Avoid Bad Company 1-5
  • Desire means a longing or craving, or something
that brings satisfaction or enjoyment, something
    desired.
  • Desire can also mean many deference things
depending on what youre talking about and what
    it is that you desire.
  • When you seek this same longing or have this
craving for the Word of God, He can and will
bring satisfaction and enjoyment in your life, if
one has the desire to seek Him this must be done
in faith and in in truth and it is called the
    Godly Affect.
  • Some, while they are sitting in church listens to
their Pastor preach the word of God they have a
temporarily desire to seek Him at the time or for
the moment, but as soon as church is over what
happens to that godly affect or desire?
  • If we have the desire to seek Him, we can then
learn how to be kind to one another. Godly
    Influence
  • One can seek and learn how to praise God for His
Glories and Wisdom. This kind of desire has a
thirst or appetite and aspiration and hunger for
the Word of God and to know Him. Godly Affect

11
Avoid Bad Company 1-6
  • The world can learn how to love their Nabors if
they have a Godly desire to do so, but because
the world know not Gods ways, the world can not
obtain His instruction and will not receive the
    words of understanding. Ungodly Affect
  • You see walking in the way with them and keeping
bad company this kind of influence will some how
get you caught up in all kinds of wrong doing.
  • Bad company or ungodly influence will causes you
to kill, still, cheat, lie, be disrespectful,
hate one another, children will disobey their
parents it will even cause you to break your
convenient with the Lord and disown your Lord and
    savor.
  • Bad company will in no doubt cause deacons and
ministers to mist the mark that God has set
before them. In GEN 397-10 Joseph did not miss
the mark that God had set before him, because he
did not consent to sin, he withheld uprightness.
Bad company is what it is Bad Company

12
Avoid Bad Company 1-7
  • Bad company will causes you to miss the mark
that God has set before you, bad influence will
cause you to miss your blessing.
  • Bad influence will causes you to walk in the way
    with them.
  • I listened to my Pastor one Sunday morning, and
he touched on this in his sermon that morning
and it had to do with if one stays around the
hog pin long enough, the smell will get on you.
Im sure he was talking about bad company. And if
one stands close enough to the hog he will even
sling some mud on you, Im sure he was talk about
    bad company.
  • In the book of GEN 397-10 Joseph finds himself
in the present of bad company one day, and even
though he did not consent to sin bad company got
him put in prison. Bad company is what it is Bad
    Company
  • Youth, obey your parents and be carful of the
company you keep, and do not walk in the way with
    them.

13
Avoid Bad Company 1-8
  • Proverbs 326
  • Have confidence in your faith in the Lord. Yield
to uprightness like Joseph in Genesis, and do not
walk in the way with them, and do not be afraid
of trouble from bad company the Lord has said in
326 For the Lord will be your confidence And
will keep your foot from being caught. And
surely not all will pass this test.

14
Obey Parents Proverbs 18, 9
  • My son, hear the instruction of your father, And
do not forsake the law of your mother for they
will be graceful ornaments on your head, And
    chains about your neck.
  • In both the Old and New Testaments agree that
children have only one responsibility in the
family to obey their parents. But you see bad
company will cause you to disobey your parents,
if you walk in the way with them.
  • Youth, take notice of this Twice in the
scripture god has intervened and directly stated
what He would have children do.

15
Obey Parents 1-2
  • The last time was nearly two thousand years ago
when He gave a revelation to Paul for the church.
  • The first time was nearly thirty-four hundred
years ago when He gave a revelation to Moses and
Israel in which He commanded, Honor your father
    and mother.
  • Obeying your parents is a responsibility, but
does not limit the responsibility only to the
    circumstances, Colossians 320 clearly points
out that children are to obey their parents in
all things, not just in those things pertaining
    to Christian living.

16
Seek Wisdom Proverbs 120 Proverbs 222
  • Wisdom calls aloud outside She raises her voice
    in the open squares.
  • The Lord has said, I will make my words known to
you, but the question is do you seek Him? Do you
seek his Wisdom or your own? Do you seek His ways
    or your own?
  • Wisdom calls out aloud The Word of God calls out
aloud, but do your hearts listen for Him, or do
your heart refuses to hear His call?
  • If one has the desire to seek God, His Wisdom,
and to learn His ways, He has said He will make
    His Word know to you.
  • Some people only seek God when things have gone
wrong in their lives. As long as things are ok,
they continue to live from day to day without
giving thanks, without prayer, they dont
acknowledge him in any way, but as soon as
something happen that causes much distress and
pain in their life, then they begin to call up on
    Him.

17
Seek Wisdom 1-2
  • One should learn to thank Him for the good times
and the bad time. One who Love their Lord and
    knows Him will do this.
  • One who truly knows Him will have no problem
    returning the gratitude of thanksgiving.
  • One who truly knows Him will have a desire to
seek Him on daily bases and not only when trouble
    arises in ones life.
  • Those who walk in the way with them are just like
    those whose ways are crooked.
  • Those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk
in the ways of darkness are like those who
    rejoice in doing evil.
  • Those who leave the path of uprightness will miss
the mark that God has set before them.
  • Seek Gods ways and Godly Wisdom, call on Him in
truth and He will hear, and deliver you from the
    ways of evil.

18
Seek Wisdom 1-3
  • In the book of Proverbs 122 says that fools
    hate knowledge. Ungodly Aaffect
  • Under stand this When the Lord have called and
you refused, when the Lord have stretched out His
hand and you would have no regarded, you may one
day find yourself diligently seeking Him and will
    not fine Him.
  • Do not walk in the way with them and avoid bad
    company.

19
Be Kind to Others Proverbs 327 35 Can be
godly influence
  • Theses verses 27-35 teaches one how to be kind
    to one another.
  • Theses verses teaches one how to not withhold
good from those to whom it is due, when it is in
the power of your hand to do so.
  • You see in theses verse it do not say to your
neighbor, Go, and come back, and tomorrow I will
    give it.
  • In this verse it teaches you how not to devise
    evil against your neighbor.
  • Avoid bad company and do not walk in the way with
them, simply because the curse of the Lord is on
the house of the wicked. Be kind to one another.
  • Let your hearts retain the Words of God God
blesses those who are kind to others and are kind
    to his Nabors.

20
Praise of Wisdom Proverbs 81 912 Godly
affect
  • Wisdom is personified wisdom in Proverbs is
often seen as a foreshadowing of Christ, who is
    Himself wisdom from God.
  • Men and women cannot attain to ethical wisdom by
themselves. We cannot attain to ethical wisdom by
our selves. We must first acknowledge the Lord in
all our ways, and then He will direct your paths.
  • Ethical wisdom Ethical means Being in
accordance with the rules or standards for right
conduct or practice pertaining to right and wrong
    in conduct.
  • In the spiritual realm we are talking about
spiritual wisdom that one receives from God
Himself, godly wisdom. One cannot receive this
godly wisdom by themselves. Jesus not only has
this wisdom, He is the wisdom of God. The bible
also teaches us that He is the Word of God. One
cannot receive Ethical Wisdom by themselves.

21
Praise of Wisdom 1-2
  • We must give praise to Wisdom. We must give
praise to our Lord and Savor Jesus Christ for He
    Himself is wisdom from God.
  • To praise God is to acknowledge the glories of
His excellent person. This is somewhat differs
from thanksgiving, which describes what God has
done rather than what He is.
  • The bible has given us facts about acknowledging
His glories the bible has given us facts about
how and why, and when we should praise Him.

22
Heres the fact
  • God alone is worthy of our praise It is His will
for us that we praise Him This praise should be
continuous We are to praise God for His
Holiness All nature praises God The sun, moon,
and stars praise Him The angels praise Him We
are told that on occasion God uses even the wrath
    of men to praise Him.
  • It is part of our spiritual life and daily walk
with Him is to praise Him. And to do this one
must avoid bad company and the forces of bad
influence and not walk in the way with them.
  • And in closing, Proverbs 35 Trust in the Lord
with all your heart, And lean not on your own
    understanding
