Trauma?
  • Dictionary definition
  • 1. A serious injury or shock to the body, as from
    violence or an accident.
  • 2. An emotional wound or shock that creates
    substantial, lasting damage to the psychological
    development of a person, often leading to
    neurosis.
  • 3. An event or situation that causes great
    distress and disruption.
  • Every War Veteran who has been in theater has
    been subjected to trauma.

Falling Through the Cracks
  • Many returning service members fall through the
    cracks no one reaches out to them.
  • Most vulnerable include
  • Single parents
  • Isolated veterans
  • Reservists and National Guardsmen
  • The wounded and permanently disabled
  • The traumatically brain injured (TBI)

  • Regardless of your personal beliefs about the
    war, the military, the administration, etc., we
    all have a professional obligation to help these
    people.

  • These service members are your community members.
  • Especially for those not on active duty and away
    from large military bases, the civilian sector is
    their main source of support.
  • These include
  • Local health care facilities civilian and VA
  • Local synagogues and churches
  • Local faith-based agencies
  • Jewish/Catholic/Protestant Family Services
  • Jewish Community Centers
  • YMCA/YMHA
