Title: Quality Control
1Quality Control
- QC is taken very serious
- QC Document for Tube Production
- QC Document for Module Assembly
- QC Document for Installation
2Graphite Coating Visual Resistivity (sides,
bottom) Detailed records
Wires Visual Test sample of every
spool Capacitance Resistance/Connectivity
PC Board Visual Connectivity Cold solder joints
Tubes Leak test Burn-In Plateau Long term
stability (30 days)
Wireholder Position
3QC at Pol. Hi. Tech
Profiles, Paint, Wire, Wire-holder, End-caps, PC
boards Sleeves
All components pass visual inspection All
components within mechanical tolerances No
defects in coating Surface resistivity within
specs No bad solder connections on PC board Pass
leak test ((weigh wire segment of each spool) Pass wire
tension test/capacitance within specs Pass
electrical conditioning test 400 V plateau in
binary gas Pass 30 day test
Tube accepted and sent to US
4QC at Princeton and Ohio State
Tubes Ribs Phi - Strips
Inspection of shipping box/transport damage Tube
resistance and capacitance within specs Pass
burn-in/conditioning test for 7 days Good signal
shape 300V plateau with ternary gas Counting
rate on plateau within expectations A sample of
tubes pass efficiency test Pass scan test Phi
strips pass conductivity test and visual
inspection Module passes 7 day burn-in test
Module accepted and sent to SLAC
5QC at SLAC
Modules z Strips Electronics HV, cables
Inspection of shipping box/transport damage Tube
resistance and capacitance within specs Pass
burn-in/conditioning test for nn days - Action
Item Define QC procedures at SLAC Can we create
a preliminary list today?
Module installed
6Full System Test at SLAC
It would be very valuable to have a complete
system up and running at SLAC before we install
the first modules into BaBar This should
include Cosmic ray trigger Several modules
with z- strips (Production) HV
system (Production) Front-end
electronics BaBar DAQ Should we encourage
somebody to look into this?
