DEAR PARENTS-
Responsibility Log
We have had a wonderful full week! We are still
working on team building activities including
sharing our picture albums and collections. Next
week we will settle more into a routine with more
WORK! We have had a few papers graded but not
enough to report to you yet so dont look for a
grade sheet next week!
We have worked together all week to word our
classroom essential agreements. The children have
been writing all week in their Homework folders
about these. Now, we will work hard to keep these
agreements. Next week, we will start reporting
any problems we are having in following the
agreements. So, for example, if a student is
constantly interrupting the speaker and has been
reminded about this agreement, that student may
have to sign the Responsibility Log. In doing
this, the student must also write what happened,
what IB Attitude needed to be used instead , and
a plan for solving the problem. I honestly do not
expect this to happen very often, but we all have
oops days!
Class Roster I have a roster ready to copy and
send home to everyone. If you do not want your
address and phone number published in this way,
send me note on Monday! (Some people like to have
this in case you have a need to call a friend
about homework or a field trip, etc.)
Spelling News
Website I have worked on our class site a little
this week. A few pictures are on it and some
other information. We will add to this throughout
the year. One feature that I have added is a page
of internet links about the subject we are
researching in our IB study-- so the children can
work on this at home if they like! (It also helps
in the computer lab since it is so hard for kids
to find a good website!)
Reading Update Each child should now have a
chapter book to read each evening. We also read
the same book in the classroom each day so part
of the homework is to get the book back to school
the next day!
We will have a Spelling list next week. We will
have a pre-test on Monday. Students scoring
90-100 on Monday will have a Challenge assignment
to complete by Friday. Students scoring below 90
will have a Study Assignment to complete by
Friday and will also re-take the test on
Friday. On the last Thursday of each month we
will also have a Review test that will have words
from previous lists. The Review test is in
addition to the normal list for that week and
does not have a pre-test. I also occasionally
grade work done in other subjects for Spelling.
