• History
• 1960-69 SE Division of AIP, NCAIP formed in 1969,
  later to become NCAPA in 1978
• 1st statewide planning conference held in 1958
  initiated by the UNC Institute of Government
• Initial NCAPA membership (1978-79) 500
• Current NCAPA membership - 1,500

(NCABP) 1990s 1991 Several minority members
of NCAPA form networking group to discuss
social equity in planning throughout NC. 1992
NCABP completes 1st directory of African
American Planners in North Carolina 1993
NCABP hosts day long conference on Historic
Preservation in African American Communities
at J.C. Smith University with 75
attendees.

• Formation of the NC Diversity Committee
• Following the 2005 APA Diversity Summit II, NCAPB
  request NCAPA hold a session to discuss diversity
  in the profession during the statewide planning
  conference.
• October 5, 2005 NCAPA hosts 1st Diversity in
  Planning Summit (20 attendees).
• December 2, 2005 NCAPA Executive Committee votes
  official create the Ethnic and Cultural Diversity
  Committee (ECDC) as the 8th working committee
  within the Chapter.
