25Captivate
- Cons
- Currently only available for Windows platform
(i.e., Cant create Captivate tutorials on a
Mac). - Save vs. Save As the unknown Known Problem
- Quizzing Clunky for our situation
- Pros
- Each slide can be edited individually, and every
object can be changed, repositioned, or resized
with simple mouse clicks - including mouse paths! - Easy Audio
- Easy Publication to the web (SWF) or print (Word)
formats - Embedded Quizzing

29Student Survey
- Web Survey Students
- Q2 How long did it take you to complete all 5
sections of CLUE? -
30Student Survey
- Web Survey Students
- Q3A Did CLUE prepare you for the follow-up
library class session?
31Student Survey
- Web Survey Students
- Q3B If No, what could we change in CLUE to help
prepare students for the library session?
We did the CLUE so much earlier than our library
session, I think it would have helped if we would
have done it closer to our library date.
Learning from a computer is just not the same as
being brought through it in person, when you can
ask questions.

It was very easy to use while still providing
ample information on gathering sources. I liked
the presentation and music, it wasn't boring,
it kept my interest.
There was nothing to like. It was very boring
and made me feel like I was five.
34Student Survey
- Web Survey Students

would change? If Yes, please list the change(s)
you would make. - Most popular responses

Although CLUE went over many things about
searching for materials, it almost went over too
much. I did not retain all of the information.
Some of the information was a little obvious
such as the information on searching via the web
also, some of the information was a little
contradictory and harsh, such as how Google was
the absolute worst source in the world when I
personally use it to find articles from sources
like The New York Times, etc.
35Student Survey
- Web Survey Students
- Q8 What part(s) of CLUE helped you the most
when it came time to complete your research
assignment(s)? - Most popular responses

I actually learned how to use the Madison
system I love the libraries now, and research is
a lot easier.
It let me know that there was more out there
than just the internet or books.
I cheated my way through clue, but the library
session helped.
36Student Survey
- Web Survey
- Q9 What helped you most with your research?
37Instructor Survey
38Instructor Survey
- Web Survey Instructors
- The new tutorial is filled with people
(librarians, professors, etc.) and their voices.
This makes the computer tutorial more meaningful,
more real. It also emphasizes the importance of
library literacy across the curriculum.
39Future Plans
- More Robust Quizzing
- Make Use of Lessons Learned in Campus Tutorial
Program - Repeat Planning Process for Follow-up Classroom
