Project Goals
  • Ultimate goal of this project is to have scores
    computerized in one place
  • This project will help teachers plan for all
    students in a more efficient manner
  • I would ultimately like to have this be a system
    for all elementary teachers in the district to
    use.

Description
  • This project will be a database for all teachers
    to use as a way keeping all student reading test
    scores in one central location
  • Hopefully this project will be in place at the
    beginning of the next school year.
  • This project will not only be helpful at the
    beginning of the year. It will also help us as a
    staff to plan for reading strategies that need to
    be in place in our building and district wide.

Project Implementation
  • Strengths of this program
  • have all reading information for each child in
    one central location
  • allow for the staff to have information available
    at the beginning of the year
  • allow for the staff to have a complete picture of
    how our school is doing as a whole
  • Weaknesses
  • this project will need the combined efforts of
    all staff members involved with reading
  • the initial installation of this program will
    take some time and perhaps the aid of a
    para-professional during the summer hours.
  • there will have to be a commitment by all
    teachers using this program to update the records

  • a newly created data-base and the relatively new
    computers provided to all teachers

Team/Resources
  • The only resource that I can see being allocated
    is for a para-professional to aid in the initial
    set up of this program during the summer
  • people involved will be secretary for database
    information, classroom teachers, reading support
    teacher and paraprofessionals
  • the equipment used will be teachers computer and
    central database
  • the location will be school office, and teacher
    classroom
  • support will be needed from central office to
    supply the database, our district technology
    coordinator who will approve of the adopted
    database, and our web-master who will support our
    efforts to get it on our web-site for other
    districts to view and use if they would like

Procedures
  • the procedure to implement this will be training
    the teachers on how to put information into the
    database and possibly how to use the database
  • after the initial input, then teachers will have
    to update it when new testing data becomes
    available.
  • we will then use this program to plan for reading
    strategies in our bldg.

Schedule
  • my schedule for getting this program up and
    running is August of 2001 when the secretaries
    have the database with student information up and
    running.
  • before August, I will be collecting data,
    training teachers in the use of spreadsheets and
    databases and talking about this project so that
    teachers will not be hit with this when they
    return as another something to do------but will
    look forward to having this information at their
    disposal

Current Status
  • Progress thus far
  • designing a form that will include all pertinent
    information
  • talking to district technology director as far as
    computerizing this information
  • polling some teachers about the need--they are
    excited
  • thinking of ways to share this with other
    buildings in our district
