    institutions in this regard

  • The NEA organizes school competitions at the
    primary and secondary levels and winners are
    presented with awards to encourage participation
    in climate change competitions

TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING
  • UNFCCC Focal Point trained members of the NCC in
    climate change issues such as greenhouse gas
    inventories, mitigation options, vulnerability
    and adaptation assessment , climate change
    strategy and action plan development

  • UCCEE trained members of the NCC in the economics
    of CDM projects

  • The NEA organizes training programmes for many
    stakeholders on environmental matters, many of
    which have climate implications and/or related
    e.g. Environmental Impact assessment.

  • Participatory Sensitization Workshops held in all
    the six administrative divisions
  • Main stakeholders include
  • Fishermen, woodcutters, blacksmiths, palm wine
    tappers, etc.
  • Grass roots identified problems with possible
    solutions

  • Kanifing Municipality and Greater Banjul Area
    workshops
  • Synthesized all workshop reports were presented
    at a policy makers workshop
  • Full report with reviewed policies and
    recommendations were presented at this workshop

    facilitates better understanding and
    dissemination of climate change issues and
    materials

  • Encourage tertiary education institutions to
    undertake climate change research and development
    of appropriate technologies for capacity
    building.

    the areas of Training and Education

  • Develop the NCC as a semi-autonomous institution
    based in the Department of Water Resources
    (UNFCCC Focal Point)

  • Strengthen existing human, institutional
    capacities to increase efficiency
  • Strengthen the Article 6 Focal Point office to
    allow for better coordination with and among
    interested parties and increased efficiency

CONSTRAINTS
  • Constant change of NCC membership
  • Limited capacity of NCC members, EG. Running of
    models and impact assessment
  • Lack of internet facility to some NCC members.
