It is about accurate self evaluation The
emphasis is on the self review process and not
the accreditation It offers a structure for
schools to develop their ICT capability.

There is a strong emphasis on leadership, vision
and strategic development (Will your vision drive
things forward or is it written to fit your
current practice?) Focus on the impact on pupil
outcomes.

A paper based portfolio is not necessarily
required Evidence can be electronic Schools

development and evidence record.

The original NAACE criteria fit into these
headings quite neatly alongside the extra
impact element.

Once you have completed all of the questions in a
strand, you can compare your position against
other users of the matrix to see if you are above
or below average.

Points to remember Split the review activities
into manageable blocks, prioritise those that are
most important to the school improvement
plan. You need time to discuss, reference
evidence, decide on your position and amend
suggested actions. Involve as many staff as
possible aggregate their views in order to draw
the most accurate picture Remember the
self-review framework is a dynamic process that
you will need to continually revisit and update.

Should you wish to apply for the ICT Mark You
will need to follow the procedure outlined on the
BECTa website. I can support you but cannot
carry out the assessment any more. An external
assessor will need to be contacted using the
approved list on the BECTa website. There will be
a flat rate cost involved for the assessment.
